Swim Serpentine London

Open water swimming isn’t the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Central London. Once a year Swim Serpentine makes this a possibility with a unique event in the heart of Hyde park. 6,000 swimmers will complete the 1 mile course within the Serpentine, which is otherwise off limits to swimmers.

Next to the start and finish lines you can watch the action from the spectator area which includes a free grandstand open to the public. There are also several charity stalls as many of the swimmers raise money for important causes. If you’re planning on watching the race then bring plenty of food and drink as there aren’t any shops located close by.

If you can’t handle the 1 mile challenge but would like to take a dip in the Serpentine you can swim in the Serpentine Lido. Located on the south side, with water temperatures of up to 17 degrees, it can be a great place to cool off in the summer.
